Joses have taken out the Spring Ausball championship with an impressive win over the Bohemenians to finish of their season undefeated. Appropriately the game was the highest standard of the season where the scoreboard did not really reflect the closeness of the teams.

Starting out as a battle of the defenses, it took a full 5 minutes before someone scored and another 3 before the first goal was scored. This opened the floodgates somewhat for Joses as they scored another 2 to close out the half and go into the break with a nice 18 point buffer.

Joses game plan of winning possession, getting numbers around the ball, controlling it and running through the lines was really starting to come together. In an even second half they were able to hold of the Irish Bohemenians who, being used to playing with a round ball in their Gaelic football, just couldn’t master kicking the oval ball. It was the major difference between the two teams and why they couldn’t finish off some of their great play with goals.

Thanks to everyone that played for a great spring Ausball season. The summer will be over before we know it and we’ll back out again in the fall, starting up after Labor Day. Of course we’d like to expand, so start thinking about getting your team together!

In the mean time, we will continue running practice sessions at Bonvegna park on Tuesdays at 6.30pm. These will be skill and fitness based sessions and everyone is welcome.
